Need some help to fix your make-up after a sweaty sesh at Frame? Facebar London is a professional makeup bar in Shoreditch and founder Nicola Fiveash gives us her top 5 beauty hacks for feeling fresh post-sweat sesh!

Before you put any make-up near your face wait until you’ve stopped sweating or at least cooled down. Drink some cold water and also splash cold water onto your face. With zero time (and space in your cramped gym bag) keeping your makeup routine simple with the use of just a few key products is the way to go – we call it smart beauty and here’s how:

1. The Prep

Give your face a super quick cleanse with Bioderma (buy the gym bag friendly 100ml size) and a cotton pad. It’ll remove sweat and any make-up which may have run, fast and has the added bonus of feeling cooling and refreshing on hot, sticky feeling post-workout skin. No need to rinse off with water.

Next moisturise your face (and body) with calming and ultra hydrating, non-greasy Steam Cream. A backstage favourite which is amazing at rehydrating skin fast and will help boost your complexions’ beautiful post-workout glow!

2. The Skin

Post-workout make-up needs to be kept simple and light to allow the skin to breath – Ellis Faas’ Skin Veil Foundation Pen does exactly that, it gives beautiful, flawless coverage but your skin still looks like skin, not a mask! It comes with a built-in foundation brush for fast ‘on-the-go’ application. Apply to centre of your face and blend outwards with your fingers.

Next apply a couple of dabs of a multi-stick – A.K.A. a girl’s best beauty friend – with your fingers apply onto the apples of your cheeks and pat along the cheekbone and blend in the sheer colour for a natural-looking hint of colour. These great 3-in-1 sticks can be used on the cheeks, lips and eyes. ILIA have a beautiful range of (no shimmer) shades from apricot to gorgeous sienna – a good range of colours to suit different skin tones. Basically, they’ll keep your skin glowing long after your class has ended!

Now apply a fine dusting of translucent powder –we love ILIA’s ‘Fade Into You’ also gym bag friendly as it comes in one small tube with built-in buffing brush and will take down shine and gently set your foundation in an instant. Only apply to the centre of your face from forehead to chin and inner cheek area if you need to – keep the outer area of the face ‘glowing’!

3. The Eyes

Curling your lashes is one of the fastest ways to great looking ‘fast’ make-up. They will instantly open up the eyes and will perfectly prep your lashes for lashing of mascara! Shu Uemura lash curlers are brilliant and can be found in most make-up artist’s pro-kits.
Our go-to mascara of the moment is Ellis Faas’ creamy, super black mascara. It will curl, lengthen and thicken your lashes in one fabulous coat. Wait for the first coat to dry fully before applying a second coat if you want eyes with maximum impact – and let’s face it, we all want that!

To finish off your eyes, line your upper waterline with a chocolate brown pencil. It’s softer than black and will really enhance your eye colour whilst still giving great definition.

4. The Lips
For fast lips you can’t go wrong with a Lord&Berry Lip Crayon. Moisturising on application, which then dries to a beautiful velvety, matt finish. The range has great pigment, from nudes to stunning orange reds – one word of warning – get ready for the compliments these lip crayons create the most stunning Statement Lips!

5. The Finale
Now you’ve done your whole face recheck your make-up and clean up any small smudges of eyeliner, mascara or lip colour with a q-tip. Applying make-up in such a hot and moist changing room environment means make-up will melt faster than anywhere else – so spend a second or two on fixing this before you dash out of there.

Now you’re ready to glow girl!
